Getting to Islay

Ferries can be caught from Kennacraig to either Port Ellen or Port Askaig.
There are three sailings a day (with extra sailings in the summer) and the journey takes just over 2 hours.

Getting to Kennacraig by Car

From Glasgow take the A82 out of Glasgow, along the side of Loch Lomond. Turn left at Tarbet joining the A83 and passing the top of Loch Long and then traveling down the side of Loch Fyne. When you reach Tarbert, turn right and you will reach Kennacraig 5 or 10 minutes later.

The journey from Glasgow takes around 3 hours, with Loch Fyne Oyster Bar (near Cairndow) and Inverary being good places to stop for food.

Getting to Kennacraig by Bus

You can catch a bus from Buchanan Street Bus Station in Glasgow. This Service is run by Citylink and the journey takes approx 3 and a half hours. The times generally coincide with ferry sailings.

By Plane

There are between two and three flights a day from Glasgow Airport to Islay with a journey time of around 45 minutes.
